The 1920 census incurred 21 new counties since the previous decadal enumeration to its present-day borders; though there had been few previous counties who may had their borders realigned in the next few years, such as Ada, Bannock, Butte, Caribou, Custer, Elmore, Franklin, Oneida, and Owyhee counties, due to population adjustments.

The U.S. Census Bureau reported that Idaho’s population in 1920 was 431,866, which was an increase by 25 percent from the previous enumeration. Today Idaho’s 44 counties remained intact since this census had been taken.
