Weseman Cemetery

WESEMAN CEMETERY

Directions: From highway 12, take the bridge across the Clearwater River into Orofino and continue going straight.
Travel through Orofino, then up a short grade, about 5.3 miles from the river bridge.
The Weseman Cemetery is located on the right side of Grangemont Road, at 2512 Grangemont Road.

The first recorded burial in the Weseman Cemetery was of little Violet Frazier who died July 24, 1904. Her parents were Fred Frazier and
Maude Weseman. The land little Violet Frazier was buried on was homesteaded by her grandparents Edmond and Armesia (Bullock) Weseman
on May 3, 1900, the homestead being proved up and granted on April 10, 1907.

The next burial was of William George, who died Feb 2, 1908.

There was one burial in each year of 1909, 1913, 1916 and 1919.
Then there were several in 1921 and from then on the cemetery has been in continuous use.

Edmund and Armesia Weseman came from Minnesota with five of their children. They had six children: Viola 1877, Arthur 1878, Maude 1880,
Madge 1881, Pearl 1884 and Edas in Jan 1900. Edmond, his wife Armesia and two of their children are buried in the Weseman Cemetery; Madge and Maude.

Sometime around 1915 and 1916 the Weseman Cemetery was known as Whiskey Creek Cemetery.
