Ben Anderson Dies

From Heart Trouble

-----------

Funeral services for Ben Anderson, 76, well known resident of Grangeville and Mt. Idaho, who died of heart trouble at the Cottonwood hospital Sunday, 11:00 a.m., were held at the Ailor Mortuary Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  The Rev. W. O. Benthin, pastor of the Federated church, officiated.  Interment was in Prairie View Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born in Norway February 2, 1866, where he grew to manhood.  As a young man he followed deep sea fishing in his native country.  He came to America while still young and followed fishing in waters of northern Michigan.  In the early 1900’s he came west and homesteaded west of Albany, Oregon.  He came to Florence in this county in 1907 to work in the mines and remained a resident of the county until his death.  He worked in the mines and remained a resident of the county until his death.  He worked in mines, trapped fur-bearing animals and worked for Nezperce National Forest during the summers for many years.  Las winter he spent several months visiting relatives in Wisconsin.

Mr. Anderson was a kindly gentleman, frugal in business, and friendly toward all his fellowmen.  In younger years he was an expert skier.  His genial presence on the streets of Grangeville will be missed.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Bergfors, and several nieces and nephews residing in the vicinity of Madison, Wisconsin.
