December 22, 1893 Cottonwood Report Another Pioneer Gone Hon. C.W. Case, County Auditor and Clerk of the District Court, of Idaho County, Idaho, died suddenly at his home in Mt. Idaho on Dec. 16, 1893, at 5 o'clock A.M. Mr. Case was among the early pioneers to the Florence mines and among those who were wise enough to secure a large tract of the fertile land on Camas Prairie. He has been honored again and again by the highest offices within the gift of the people of Idaho County. He was well read in the law, a clear headed man, strictly honest and thoroughly capable and fearless in the statement of the truth. Idaho County has lost one of its best and truest friends. He leaves a wife and two children who mourn his loss. One by one, the early settlers have been called away by death, and still their ranks are rapidly thinning. It is to be hoped that as capable and as thoroughly honest an have been the sturdy men, who in the past have held the reins of our County affairs, so will be their successors.
