MRS. JOHN C. CASH DIES WAS NEARLY EIGHTY
Less than a month before reaching her eightieth birthday
anniversary, Eliza Ellen Cash passed away early Wednesday morning at the Canter
Nursing Home in Kamiah, where she had been confined the past couple of months.
She was born Eliza Ellen Bottomley, February 5, 1869 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana,
where she spent her childhood. On February 20, 1887, she married John C. Cash at
Mt. Vernon and they came to Idaho the next year. The trip was made by immigrant
train to Riparia, then by boat to Lewiston and on to Camas Prairie by stage
coach.
They homesteaded near Tolo Lake where they lived and reared their eight
children. After the family was grown, they moved to Grangeville and for many
years lived on the place south of town which is now owned by Dr. D.J. Soltman.
Following the death of their daughter, Mrs. Annie Leach, they moved to her home
in town where they lived until Mr. Cash passed away in 1946.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Walter C. Cash and J. Manford Cash of Grangeville,
and Guy Cash of Nezperce; one daughter, Mrs. Emily Harris, Grangeville; one
sister, Mrs. William Burroughs, Grangeville; 16 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the Robertson Funeral Chapel with the Rev.
R.H. Burke officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
