JOHN C. CASH, COUNTY PIONEER IS CALLED

John C. Cash, 86, pioneer resident of Idaho County passed away early Tuesday at the General hospital after a lingering illness.
He was born March 6, 1860 at the farm home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph, near Mt. Vernon, Indiana. There he grew to manhood and on February 20, 1887, he was married to Miss Eliza Ellen Bottomley. They came west by train the following year to Riparia and on to Grangeville by stage coach. After farming near Grangeville a short time, they took a homestead in the Tolo lake section. In 1923, they sold the homestead and bought a farm near Grangeville which they operated until two years ago when they moved into town.
Mr. and Mrs. Cash would have observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary next February.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Emily Harris, Grangeville; three sons, Walter and Manford, Grangeville and Guy of Pollock; also 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Three daughters and one son preceded their father in death.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:00 at the Hancock Chapel with the Rev. R.H. Burke of the Baptist Church officiating. Hymns will be sung by Mrs. Wayne Fanning and Mrs. Esther Pearson with Marie Green accompanying on the organ. Pallbearers will be William Stillwell, Dave Pugh, H.E. Patton, J.C. Cravens, Frank Howard and Jake Eimers. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
