Mrs. Estella Mabel
DeCourcey, a former resident of the prairie passed away Sunday at Sandpoint, and
following services conducted in the First Presbyterian church by William
Westwood in that city, the remains were shipped to Grangeville and services were
held at the Hancock Funeral Home here Wednesday afternoon.
Rev. Sydney A. Walker officiating ad interment was made in the Prairie
View Cemetery. Mrs. DeCourcey was
born in Custer County Penn., April 1879, and the most of her life was spent in
the school room and in child welfare work.
She taught in the Ferdinand school two years and at Sandpoint for eight
years. She was an ardent worker in
the General PTA president of the Teacher’s Study club and was chairman of the
Mother’s Study Club, superintendent of the Washington school. And leader in
girls 4-H club work at Sandpoint. She
was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving are her
mother, Mrs. C.E. Fitzsimmons of Sandpoint, a daughter, Mrs. Carl Meyer of Fenn;
two brothers and a sister in Camas, Wash; three grandchildren and her grand
parents. |
