IDAHO COUNTY FREE PRESS FEBRUARY 23, 1905 Lousi Escard, known for many years in Lewiston died on the fifteenth inst., age 68 years. His name has been familiar to the people of Idaho county since the early sixties. He was a packer by profession and adhered rigidly to that business until the shadows of old age cast their blighting influences around him, his sight failed and he was no longer able to follow the trail with his pack train. About seven years ago he abandoned the pack business and took up residence in one of his own houses back of Pat Toal's saloon in Mt. Idaho. His malady grew worse and he was soon unable to recognize his most intimate friends. An operation was performed on his eyes, but no permanent benefit was derived and for more than a month before he died he was totally blind. |
