MT. IDAHO PIONEER FUNERAL HERE TODAY
Mrs. Catherine Isabella Goan, 72, died at her home in Mt. Idaho, Monday, March
4, following an illness of 15 months. Funeral services will be held today,
Thursday, March 7, at 2:00 at the Hancock Funeral Home. Reverend Nelson C.
Pierce will be officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Idaho cemetery. Pallbearers
will be Adolph Brown, Ira Hindman, Frank Donnelly, Lee Smith, George Schlier,
and Guy Hayes.
Mrs. Goan was born June 30, 1867, at Lebanon, Ore., as Catherine Isabelle Fogle.
She was married to William A. Goan on February 24, 1886 and they came to the
Camas Prairie September 1891 and located at Mt. Idaho. The family home has been
maintained there since. Mrs. Goan was one of the pioneer women of Idaho County
and for 48 years she watched the development of the community. She was well
loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Surviving relatives are her husband, William A. Goan and one son, Ralph E. Goan,
both at home; five daughters, Mrs. Ida Earp, Mrs. Georgia Dean, Mrs. Leora Ritz
all of Mt. Idaho; Mrs. Ruth Pollan, Grangeville, and Mrs. Ellen Leavenhagen of
San Francisco, Ca.; one brother, James Fogle of Milton, Oregon; two sisters,
Mrs. Mary Lister and Mrs. Annie Wilson.
