Jessie Jenkins Dies After Long Illness ---------- A
prolonged siege of tuberculosis, contracted after an attack of influenza 17
years ago, claimed the life of Jessie Jenkins on January 31, at Orofino. Funeral services were held in the Hancock Funeral Home chapel
Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. John A. Kees, pastor of the Grangeville Baptist
church, officiating, and interment in Prairie View Cemetery. Jessie
Amanda Jenkins was born in Grangeville, May 20, 1904, where she spent her
childhood days and attended school. Her
schoolmates will remember her as a bright, energetic and lovable girl. Surviving
are her mother, Mrs. Mary Whetstine, Stites; two sister, Mrs. Lily Werner,
Bremerton, Wash., and Mrs. Lydia Gunter, Grangeville; four brothers, George and
Mark Jenkins, Grangeville; Morris, of Easton, Wash., and Orville at Seward,
Alaska; two half-brothers, Wayne Whetstine, Portage Junction, Alaska, and Walter
