Press June 21, 1995 Wesley Oliver Jones, age 76, died June 19, 1995, at St.
Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood of a heart attack. He was born on Dec. 3, 1918, at Cottonwood to Edward and
Lillie VonBargen Jones. He attened
the Highland School six miles east of Cottonwood.
After his schooling he went to work on the family farm located six miles
east of Cottonwood. He farmed there
his entire life except for time spent in the United States Army from 1941 until
1945. He and Dola Serena were married at Grangeville on Sept 3,
1949. He retired from farming in
1989. He enjoyed woodworking and
playing cards. He was a member of
the Grangeville Christian Church. He
served many years on the Cottonwood Road District and served on the Idaho State
Highway Executive Board as secretary-treasurer for four years. Survivors include his wife, Dola, at the family home; two sons, Ivan of Grangeville and David of Pullman, Wash.; two daughters, Lydia Grubb of Coeur d’Alene and Lillian Virginia Rusher of Shelton, Wash.; three brothers, Fred Suhr of Grangeville, William Suhr of Fairoaks, Calif. And Robert Suhr of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; five sisters, Marjorie Balbach of Grangeville, Irene Gentry of Orofino, Louise Mager of Grangeville, Lila Hendrickson of Colfax and patricia Ann Cox of Pioneer Calif.; eight grandchildren. A brother, Harry Jones, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at the Noland Funeral Home with Dr. James Larsen of the Rogue Valley Christian Church of Medford, Ore., officiating. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. Thursday until 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at the Prairie View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Evangelical Free Church for Jim and Sue Beckman, 717 No. 90th, Seattle, WA 98103 or the Cottonwood ambulance.
