IDAHO COUNTY FREE PRESS MAY 12, 1976 Douglas King Dies at Powell Douglas D. King, 57, died May 9 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Idaho County Sheriff's department which investigated the incident. King died at his home at the Powell Ranger Station where he had lived for the past seven years and had been employed as a dozer operator for the Forest Service. He was born April 22, 1919, at Bartley, Neb., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. King. He received some of his education in Nebraska. The family moved to Idaho in 1925 settling in the Nampa Valley, where he completed his education and worked as a farmer and auctioneer. During the period of the World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He married Stell Domeier and they later separated. In 1969 he moved to the Kamiah area and was engaged in logging and working for the Forest Service. He married Clara Brocke, March 29, 1969. She survives at the family home at Powell. Additional survivors are: two daughters, Sheryl Lake of Boise and Sandra Bowen of Nampa; one stepson, Verlin Domeier of California; his mother, Golia King of New Meadows; four sisters, Mrs. W.K. Gallimore of Riggins, Mrs. John Lopez of Council, Mrs. Jack Craner of Minden, Nev., and Mrs. Vern Roberts of Fallon, Nev.; a brother Bob King of New Meadows and seven grandchildren. King may be viewed Wednesday, May 12, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Hansen-Noland Funeral Home in Kamiah. His body will be transported to Nampa for the funeral service on Friday, with interment following. |
