County Free Press 03/12/1997Ted W. Lester, 65 Ted W. Lester, 65, of Grangeville, died at a Scottsdale, Ariz., hospital of respiratory failure on Friday, March 7, 1997. He was born April 5, 1931,
at Grangeville, the son of John and Leola Conant Lester. He attended
school at Grangeville. Following his education he married Dawn Browning
and they later divorced. He enlisted in the U. S.
Coast Guard in 1952 and was a communications operator until his discharge in
1954. After his discharge, he returned to Grangeville where he farmed.
He married Jeannette Shuck in 1972. He was employed in the trucking
industry, having driven long-haul and logging trucks. From 1986 to his
retirement in 1993, he worked for the Fenn Highway District. He was a member of the Mt.
Idaho Lodge #9 AF and AM, a life member of the Grangeville Elks Lodge #1825,
Camas Prairie Roundabouts Good Sam Club, National Rifle Association, past member
of Charity Grange #294 and the Culdesac Gun Club, and a charter member of the
Grangeville Nazarene Church. He enjoyed traveling,
hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He is survived by his wife,
Jeannette, at the family home; his father, John L. Lester of Grangeville; two
sons, J. Craig Lester of Pullman and Wes Lester of Grangeville; one daughter,
Lauri Haug of Moscow; three grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis Vick of Boise,
Lucille Schneider of Omak, Wash., and Argyle Landerville of Mission Viejo,
Calif. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leola Lester. Memorial services will be
held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Grangeville Elks Lodge. Services are under
the direction of the Noland-Blackmer Funeral Home in Grangeville. The
family suggests memorial contributions to the Elks Rehabilitation Hospital,
Shriners, or to the charity of one’s choice. |
