IDAHO COUNTY FREE PRESS FEBRUARY 18, 1893 DEATH
OF IKE ORCUTT Died in Warrens, Idaho county, Idaho, Saturday February 4, 1893, Issac Orcutt, a native of New York aged 68 years. Mr. Orcutt was one of the pioneers of Florence and Warrens basins, and a better man never trod the footstool. Until within the last 18 months he was possessed of extraordinary strength and physical endurance, but he finally was prostrated with dyspepsis and the end was expected for some time. The entire population turned out the next day to pay the last sad rites over the remains of one who was the embodiment of all the virtues which belong to the fast departing rave of pioneer heroes. No death has occurred in Warrens within our recollection which excited such feeling of genuine grief. Ike was the eldest of nine children, the youngest born in 1850. One brother died in infancy in 1848. Since that, his death is the first to break the family circle. Mrs. Frank Smith, George Riebold and Maggie Smead had written to his sister Mrs. N.W. Thompson of Fort Wayne, Indiana apprising them of Ike’s condition, and Ike wrote on January 24 for them not to worry about his “little ailments”.
