Cottonwood Report

A Pioneer Dead

A Challis letter, of February, 6th says that David Reese died January 18th at about 8 o'clock of pneumonia and abscess of liver, aged 68 years, 11 months and 20 days.  He was born in Lancaster, Pa, January 29, 1829.  He enlisted in Company G., Cameron Guards, from Harrisburg, Pa., in the Second regiment Pennsylvania volunteers 1846, and was discharged 1848.  In March, 1849, he sailed from Baltimore on the brig "Arabia" around the Horn for California.  In 1858, he went to Portland, Or., and was in Idaho and served as express man for General Wright in the Indian War, and will doubtless be remembered by many of the pioneers of this section.
