1998 Submitted by Deb Starr E. mark Taylor, 86, Lewiston resident Peck - E. Mark Taylor, 86, a retired heavy equipment operator of Lewiston died Friday in a tractor accident at Peck. He was born Nov. 17, 1911, to Frank L. Taylor and Mary C. Benedict Taylor at Grangeville. He spent his boyhood years at his father's ranch near White Bird. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1931 and began work as a truck driver after graduation. He also attended the University of Idaho at Moscow. In 1941 he worked building air bases in Alaska. Following the war he owned and operated a parking garage in Spokane. He was sales and service representative for Pacific Services farm machinery in Pocatello. He married Pat Chaney in 1943. In 1953 he moved to Long Beach, Calif., and worked in construction. From 1958 to 1961 he owned and operated a mobile home court in North Lewiston. In 1962 he moved to Baja, Calif., where he worked as a master mechanic and in 1968 he worked in Canada installing mining machinery. In 1972, he moved back to Lewiston, where he worked until his retirement. He belonged to the Elks, Moose and the Eagles Lodges at various times. he is survived by his wife at Lewiston; one daughter, Deborah Starr of Orofino; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Malcolm's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel at Lewiston. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Orofino Fire Dept., EMT's. |
