FLORENCE MINER

JIM WARD PASSES

James Alfred Ward, an Idaho county resident for about 70 years,  died at General Hospital early Tuesday morning where he had been a patient for the past week.

He was born January 19, 1974 at Jacksonville, Oregon, and the family returned to their former home in Texas when he was an infant of one year.  When Jim was a lad of 10, the family came to Idaho County locating at Mt. Idaho.

He operated a stock ranch north of Mt. Idaho for some time and then moved into the Salmon River section with his stock.

On January 24, 1911, he married Rose Horeth in Grangeville and the couple lived on his ranch in the Wind River country until about 1916 when they separated.  Mr. Ward then located in the Florence mining district, where he has followed mining since that time.  In late years he had not been remaining at Florence during the winter month-sometimes staying with his life long friend, M. H. Williams, on the Southfork.

He is survived by one sister; Mrs. M. G. Rambo of Grangeville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Robertson Funeral Chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with LaVern Tooley officiating.  Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
