January 28, 1954 FLORENCE MINER JIM WARD PASSES James Alfred Ward, an Idaho
county resident for about 70 years, died at General Hospital early Tuesday
morning where he had been a patient for the past week. He was born January 19,
1974 at Jacksonville, Oregon, and the family returned to their former home in
Texas when he was an infant of one year. When Jim was a lad of 10, the
family came to Idaho County locating at Mt. Idaho. He operated a stock ranch
north of Mt. Idaho for some time and then moved into the Salmon River section
with his stock. On January 24, 1911, he
married Rose Horeth in Grangeville and the couple lived on his ranch in the Wind
River country until about 1916 when they separated. Mr. Ward then located
in the Florence mining district, where he has followed mining since that time.
In late years he had not been remaining at Florence during the winter
month-sometimes staying with his life long friend, M. H. Williams, on the
Southfork. He is survived by one
sister; Mrs. M. G. Rambo of Grangeville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be
held from the Robertson Funeral Chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock with
LaVern Tooley officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery.
