The Will of Miss Susan L. McBeth

I Miss Susan L. McBeth residing in Mt. Idaho, Idaho, Idaho County, Idaho Territory do make this My last will and Testament. 

 I wish to be buried in the Churchyard at Kamiah Nez Perce County Idaho Territory. I wish a plain Substantial Monument to be erected over My remains, as soon as possible. Said monument to be Enclosed in a strong iron railing. The Cost of Said monument and railing together with funeral Expenses, and all other expenses, And debts to be paid out of Money belonging to Me at My death.

 My Nez Perce English Dictionary and Grammar I wish sent to Smithsonian Institute at Washington D.C. as soon as possible after My death and deposited in that Institute to publish in the interests of Science and the Nez Perce Mission. My Scrap book of personal Matter, letters &c I wish Sent to the Rev. Walter Quincy Scott D.D., President of the Ohio State University at Athens Ohio. My Scrap book of Indian pictures together with My books, Seeds Scattered Broadcast and Practical Talks, I give And bequeathe to my Nephews and Nieces. My Share of the home property in Wellsville Ohio I give and bequeathe to my Brother and Sisters to be shared equally by them and not Sold as long as these Sisters and Brothers shall live, as was the wish and will of Our Mother.

 My lot no. 15 – fifteen in Block No. one (1) (30 x 100) fifty feet front on Main St thence north one hundred feet situated in the town of Mt. Idaho, Idaho County, Idaho Territory I give and bequeathe to the Rev. Robert Williams a Nez Perce Indian at present in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Kamiah, Nez Perce County, Idaho Territory because of his faithful Services as My helper in My work among the Nez Perces.And I wish the deed of said lot to be made out in his name and recorded in his name in the Court Records at Mt. Idaho. In the event of the death of Said Robert Williams it is My Wish that said lot should remain in the possession of the family of his father Jonathan Williams (Commonly called Billy) who has always been a true and faithful friend of the Mt. Idaho people. I give and bequeathe My Cabinet Organ to the Presbyterian Church at Kamiah. Said organ to remain in the care of the Rev. Robert Williams And in his house Save when needed for Church Services.

 I wish Mrs. L. P. Brown and daughters of Mt. Idaho, Idaho Co., Idaho Territory and Mrs Wallace Scott of Same place to Select from among My personal Effects. My death any article they may choose And accept Said Articles as a small acknowledgement of their Many kindnesses to Me. The Remainder of My household good, books, clothing &c. I wish to be equally distributed among My Nez Perce pupils. Whatever money or property belonging to me at My death Shall remain after all expenses and debts are paid.

 And the above wishes are executed and bequests  Subtracted I give and bequeathe to the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of American, Now located 23 Centre St. New York City in the State of New York, I give and bequeathe to the Board of Foreign missions 1st my lot No four (4) in Edmonsins Add. to the town of Newton, County of Jasper, State of Iowa. 2nd Six hundred dollars ($600.00) of my Money now in the hands of Mr. Arthur Kellaway of Wellsville, Cohmbrow Co., Ohio pd whatever of My Money May at my death and after all expenses and debts are paid remains to my credit in the 1st national Bank of Portland Oregon, and Whatever Money belonging to Me at My death May be in the hands of Ladd and Tilton, bankers, Portland, Oregon, together with whatever money may at My death and after all expenses and debts are paid remain to My credit in the 1st national Bank of Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho Territory, I having deposited at this present writing, Sep. 1886 in all three of Said Banks, and also Said deposit of Six hundred dollars ($600.00) in the hands of Mr Arthur Kellaway of Wellsville Ohio. I wish the Board of Foreign Missions Now at 23 Centre St. New York N.Y. to Send the Rev. Robert Williams and the Rev James Hayes Nez Perce Indians and Presbyterian Ministers each one time and Separately to the Meeting of Gen Agg. of Presbyterian Church in the United States at the earliest period after My death in which said Assembly Shall Convene in Any of the Eastern States the Board of Foreign Missions to pay from My Bequests the expenses of Said attendance at Gen.Ass. of the Rev. Robert Williams and James Hayes. The balance of My money I wish Said Board of Foreign Mission to Use in Sending out of My Nez Perce pupils (Save Archie Lawyer) as Missionaries of the Gospel of Christ among the Indian tribes. 1st to the Crow Indians, the old friends and Allies of the Nez Perce, 2nd to the Shoshones Indians. After these two tribes are supplied then to any other heathen tribes who are still without the Gospel. 

I wish Mr L.P. Brown of Mt. Idaho, Idaho Country, Idaho Territory and Mr. Wallace Scott of the Same place, to act as My Executors in carrying out my wishes as expressed in this My last will and Testament. And I give them full power to act as My executors without limits. I hereby Revoke any previous will made by Me
