Joseph Kennedy (1965-2024)

Joe Kennedy, 59, of Cascade, Idaho, passed away on June 25, 2024 due to injuries sustained in a four- wheeler accident. Born in Cascade on March 19, 1965 to Daniel Hugh and Mary Evelyn Hanson Kennedy. Joe was the youngest in a family of eight boys and one girl.

Raised on the family ranch, Joe loved the adventurous life it offered and was proud to be the third-generation rancher, even prouder to raise the fifth generation of ranchers. His passion for ranching was matched by his natural talent as a horseman and his love for hunting and fishing.

On June 7, 1986, Joe married the love of his life, Tracey. Together they had two children, Sadie Belle and Joseph Paul. He also raised his 2 sisters, Melissa and Jennifer. Joe's dedication to his family was unwavering and his legacy of hard work and love will continue through them.

Joe attended horseshoeing school before enrolling in the Boise State Welding Program where he was on the Dean's List. He was very active in the ranching and farming community and was immensely proud to have served as the president of the Payette River Cattleman's Association where he contributed in various capacities for several years.

Joe also worked as a logger for several years for Del Gossi and Gary Peterson and later started Long Valley Logging with his friend Dave Eisenbeiss. Additionally, he and Tracey owned and operated Kennedy Fuel and Feed for 18 years.

Joe's dedication extended beyond his professional life; he was an active supporter of the 4-H club, on the Valley County Fair Board and a volunteer at the American Legion in Cascade. His contributions to the community were numerous and impactful.

As a natural horseman, he taught his children how to ride and care for horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing activities with his family. He had a contagious smile and laugh that brightened up a room. He was kind and always helped a friend in need. Some of his best friends were his dogs and horses and he spent every day with them.

Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Tracey; children, Sadie (Jeff) Nase and Joey (Kylie) Kennedy; sisters in law, Melissa Wilson and Jennifer (Ryan) Johnson; six grandchildren, Ruby, Addie, Hannah, Jack, Flint and Tate; brothers, Bill (Terry) Kennedy, Jim (Mary) Kennedy and brother Kenny (Linda) Zimmer; and sister, Mary Kay (Kevin) Rigsby.
