Roberta “China” M. Towery, 74, of McCall, died Saturday Nov. 19, 2011 in Centralia, Wash., surrounded by her family and loved ones.
There will be a celebration of China’s life in late spring 2012 in McCall.
She was born to Bob and Billye McBride, June 13, 1937, in Norwood.
She married the late Fred Towery. They lived in McCall and a short time in Boise before relocating to McCall to raise their family.
China was a homemaker, then worked for the Payette National Forest Service, where she retired. After retiring she continued to be the primary care giver of her mother, Billye McBride.
She was very active in the Rebekahs, Royal Neighbors and the United Church of Christ in Nampa. She also spent time volunteering at the Salvation Army and other Charity work.
China always enjoyed spending time with her daughters, Kelly and Robin, who blessed her with six grandchildren who later made her a great-grandmother of nine. She loved her friends in McCall and Nampa. She took so many wonderful memories with her.
China is preceded in death by her husband Fred Towery, son Freddy Towery, father Bob McBride and brother Buster McBride.
China is survived by her daughters Kelly Scott (Jim) of Tacoma, Robin Jacques (Ray) of Chehalis; her mother Billye McBride; and her sister Hazel Hathaway of Vancouver.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Oak Wood Haven Adult Home, 1518 Jensen Ave., Centralia, WA 98531.
