Anne Drazich received her wings on her birthday Feb. 3, 2011, passing away peacefully at Marquis Care at Shaw Mountain in Boise after a long & valiant battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Burial was held Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Finnish Cemetery on Farm to Market Road outside of McCall. Anne was born Feb. 3, 1923 in East Chicago, Ind. Her parents were Josephine and Mike Savanovich and she was the oldest of five children.
She lived in East Chicago the earlier years of her life where she attended Washington High and graduated in 1941.
Anne married George M. Drazich, the love of her life, that same year. Two children followed, son, Brian and daughter, Roberta (Bobbi).
Anne and family then moved to Griffith, Ind., living only a few blocks from her two sisters until the move to Pocatello in 1956.
They later built a home and moved to the countryside outside of Blackfoot until George’s untimely death in 1971 while vacationing in Yugoslavia.
The following years found her in Sun Valley, Idaho where she worked as a domestic until she retired at 65.
Always wishing to get back to the countryside, she bought a lovely piece of property outside of McCall and had a home built from her own design.
She resided there until she was no longer able to live alone. She so loved sitting on her porch enjoying the scenery around her.
Anne is survived by her son, Brian Drazich and wife, Linda of Ridgecrest, Calif.; daughter, Bobbi Pietz and son-in-law, Randy of Boise; granddaughter, Erin, who was the light of her life, of Oxford, England; sisters, Dorothy and Violet; brother, George and nieces and nephews, all of Indiana.
Her brother, Bobby preceded her in death at age 14.
Anne was an avid snow skier until her late 60s, enjoyed camping with her family, was a talented seamstress, loved to read, and dabbled in oil painting. Her favorite place was Jenny Lake in the Tetons.
