Frank J. Machado

Frank J. Machado passed away June 23, 2011 at home in San Jose, Calif., surrounded by a loving family.

A memorial service will be held in Cascade at a later date. Contact Shepherd of the Mountains Church in Cascade for details.

Frank was born in Niles (Fremont), Calif., on Aug. 12, 1925 to John and Mary Machado.

He served proudly in World War II with the 42nd Rainbow Division, 232nd Regiment and was awarded numerous medals including the Bronze Star Medal. He was a proud and active member of the American Legion.

He was a much loved father, brother, and husband with a wide circle of friends, coworkers and breakfast buddies.

He was generous, kind, accomplished, and had a just plain fun-to-be-with nature which endeared him to many people. He was fluent in three languages, a private pilot, a master gardener, and an amazingly fast word processor.

He met his wife at San Jose State College and they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on May 3, 2011.

His professional life included 28 years of service with the Santa Clara County Planning Department as a planning and zoning administrator.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne and daughters, Danielle Machado Tracy, Romana Machado-Reynolds, and Claire Machado and Claire’s fiance Wesley Woodward.

He is also survived by grandchildren, Scott and Patrick Tracy and Brianna Machado and his brother, Dominic Machado, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, John and Joseph Machado.
