Dianne Marie Nau

Dianne Marie Nau, 68, of New Meadows, passed away peacefully at her winter home in Vista, Calif., on Jan. 18, 2011, after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Eternal Hills Memorial Chapel, Oceanside, Calif.

Dianne was born in Cheyenne, Wyo., but spent her childhood in Denver, Colo.

She earned her bachelor of arts degree from San Diego State University and enjoyed a 25-year career with Wells Fargo Bank, managing a number of their branches and working as a premier banker.

After retiring from Wells Fargo, Di became active with the Assistance League of North Coast, which supports programs for underprivileged children in North San Diego County.

Her proudest achievement was the creation of their “I Love To Read” program, where elementary school students receive free books as a reward for reaching the reading objectives established by the schools.

Over 3,000 books are now distributed each year to elementary schools in Vista, Oceanside, and Carlsbad, Calif., under this program.

Di was an avid fisherman, and she and her husband bought a home at MeadowCreek in New Meadows in 2001. In addition to fishing in the Idaho mountains, she enjoyed golf, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and flying in the Idaho backcountry with her husband.

Dianne will always be remembered as a very special and incredibly warm person, and she was happiest when she was engaged in any activity that involved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was so kind, thoughtful, and generous in her relationships with other people that nearly every person she ever met became her friend for life.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennis; sons Eric and Michael, daughter Kelly, four wonderful grandchildren, and a very large extended family.

She is also survived by the countless friends she made throughout her lifetime.
