James Olan Slaton Jr., formerly of Cascade, passed away at his home in Bar Nunn, Wyo., on Sept. 17, 2012.
Jim was born in Memphis, Tenn., to the late James Olan Slaton Sr. and Geraldine Slaton on Nov. 3, 1941.
He graduated from Hemet High School and attended Redlands University, both in California. He held many positions state side and abroad.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed various outdoor activities, dancing and cooking for family and friends.
Among his many occupations during his lifetime was as owner of The Chief restaurant and lounge in Cascade.
He is survived by his sons, Rodney James Slaton with wife Barbara, and Tod Slaton from Midland, Texas; daughter Susan Caton with husband Russell and their two daughters, Emily and Callie of Pine Valley, Calif.; his niece, Kristina Duecer and husband Curt and son Nicholas, and nephew Michael Sorrels of Las Vegas, Nev.
He will be sorrowfully missed by his family. He would like to be remembered as a humble son, proud father, patriotic American, and grateful for his friends.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that a donation be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
