David Campbell, 85, formerly of Meadows Valley, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Dave was born July 13, 1926 and spent his childhood on the Circle C Ranch in Meadows Valley.
After attending Meadows Valley High School, he served as a combat medic with the 34th Infantry Regiment, which used water-cooled 30 caliber machine guns, 24th division in the Philippines. After two years in the Philippines, he was assigned to the Army of Occupation in Japan, where he served for a year.
He received a bronze star, combat medic badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, and two combat stars.
At the conclusion of his service, Dave returned home and married Jean Buchholz on Oct. 19, 1946. Dave also served in National Guard for three years beginning in 1946.
He then attended the University of Idaho, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, graduating in 1952 with a B.S. in agriculture. After college, his family, which now included two daughters, moved to the Circle C Ranch where he became general manager.
Because of his girls’ activities in high school rodeo, he became involved and served several state national offices for the High School Rodeo Association, including state and national president. One of his duties as National President was to organize the National High School Rodeo Championships in Twin Falls in 1971.
With the sale of Circle C in 1973, he worked as a cattle superintendent for a 40,000-head feed lot at Pasco, Wash. Dave and his wife then moved to Boise in 1978, where he sold farm real estate.
In January 1985, he went to work for the USDA Farm Home Administration where he remained until he retired in 1993.
While living in Boise, he and his wife enjoyed traveling the world, and visited 49 of the 50 United States, and six out of seven continents.
Dave is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean; two daughters, Marilyn Perry (Seattle, Wash.) and Linda Knoeber (Raleigh, N.C.). He also has four grandchildren, Kenn Knoeber (Raleigh, N.C.), Nick Perry (San Francisco, Calif.), Jennifer Perry (Seattle, Wash.), Carrie Knoeber Hughston (Raleigh, N.C.), and her two children, Clayton and Campbell Hughston.
