David Feldman

Dave Feldman, 63, a resident of McCall since 2006, passed away peacefully and painlessly of natural causes on June 29, 2012.

Dave faced his mortality fearlessly and never gave up hope. He displayed grace and remarkable calm in his final days, his faith stood him well.

Born in New York City on Feb. 18, 1949,, the family moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1960 where Dave lived and graduated from Palo Alto High School.

It took some time for Dave to find himself and he developed a deep and enduring love of outdoor adventures. Rock climbing, ice climbing, whitewater kayaking became his passion as well as fly-fishing and bird hunting.

This passion for active living him led him to move to the Lake Tahoe region where he began a career as a carpenter and developed the skills of a master craftsman, building his own home on the lake shore as well as numerous custom homes and remodels as an independent contractor.

Dave’s life was blessed when he married Jennifer and became stepfather to Christine and began his starring role in life as father to Justin. Although the marriage was not destined to last, the love between Dave and the children was unwavering, and when the family relocated he decided to move to McCall to be near them.

In addition to being near to the children he adored, he fell in love with his new community. Dave’s years in McCall were some of the most meaningful in his life and he became an active member in many aspects of the area, developing warm and lasting friendships with the people he worked with, attended church with and hunted and fished with.

Dave’s final masterpiece is the beautiful home he built in McCall, though his legacy will be found in the joy for life, the love of nature and the kindness and compassion that will continue through Justin and Christine.

Besides Justin Feldman and Christine Mann, Dave is survived by his mother, Faith Feldman; brother Seth Feldman, Seth’s wife Kita and their six children; sister Elizabeth Heyenga, Elizabeth’s husband Tom and their son Ethan.

Dave requested that his ashes be scattered in a location chosen by Justin and Christine. No formal funeral will be held.
