Danny Lee Gantz, 58, of McCall, passed away peacefully at home Friday, June 8, 2012.
A celebration of Danny’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Riverfront Park located by the Sheep Bridge across from the McCall Smokejumper Base. This will be a potluck event. If able, please bring a story to share and a lawn chair.
Danny was born May 14, 1954 to Ruby and Charles (Red) Gantz in McCall. He graduated from McCall-Donnelly High school in 1972 and soon after enlisted in the Army and was deployed in Germany.
Soon after being honorably discharged he went to work at the Boise Cascade Corp. sawmill following in his father’s footsteps.
First, he started in McCall then transfered to Cascade when the McCall mill was shut down. He worked 30 years for the mill until it shut down in 2001. In later years he worked as the Sporting Goods Manager for Ridley’s in McCall.
Danny was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman to say the least. Filling his deer and elk tags annually was almost always accomplished. He had several non-typical racks as well as filling tags for a moose and a big horn sheep on special draws. He fished most the lakes and streams surrounding McCall.
Danny leaves behind his loving wife Deanna; daughter India Hammond; sons Ben Gantz, married to Ashley of Payette, and Troy Gantz of Payette; his sisters, Beverly Banks of Boise, Linda McGuire of Indiana, and Sandy Gantz of Lewiston; and grandchildren Malybu, Shelby, Tayleigh, Jordan, Aiden Gantz and Kayla Welsh and Louis Hammond as well as many other friends and family.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Ruby, and his daughter, April May Gantz.
The family wishes to thank St. Luke’s Home Health and Hospice for care during Danny’s final months.
