James Eldon Jarvis, 73, of Twin Falls, formerly of Cascade, died Thursday, April 26, 2012 at home, with his family by his side.
A graveside memorial service was held Wednesday, May 2, 2012, conducted by Pastor Andy from the Filer Baptist church. Arrangements are under the direction of Reynold’s Funeral Home.
Jim was born May 26, 1938, in Eureka, Kans., the son of James Daniel and Mildred Jarvis.
He attended school and helped with the family farm until he enlisted in the Navy where he served for four years.
He married Lavella Myres on Nov. 4, 1959. Together, they lived in Oregon, Payette, and Cascade.
They have two children, Marilyn and Rick. They were divorced in 1980. On February 14, 2005 Jim married Patty Parks and they remained married until his death.
Jim was an avid elk hunter. He enjoyed sturgeon fishing and jet boating on the Salmon River. He also enjoyed taking a nap or reading a book beside a quiet camp, family barbecues, and homemade ice cream. He worked for a dairy in Corvallis, Timber Laminators in Payette, at the lumber mill, as a logger, and snowplow driver in Cascade.
When he retired from Valley County Highway District he and Patty bought a home near Twin Falls and a winter home in Parker, Ariz. They enjoyed their time in both homes.
Jim is survived by his wife Patty, a son Rick and daughter-in-law Monique, daughter, Marilyn and son-in-law Dave Kellerman, his sister Nelda Pape, his sister Mary and brother-in-law Jim Van De Bogart, his brother John Jarvis, and brother-in-law Paul Pape.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Arianna, Ericka, James, Dominique, and Jessica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Pape, brother-in-law Bud Pape, and his nephew Darrin Van De Bogart
