Miyo Takeuchi, 93, of Nampa and Donnelly, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, in a local hospital.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, from 5-8 p.m., at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m., at Alden-Waggoner Chapel.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1:30 p.m., at Margaret Cemetery in Cascade.
Miyo was born on Feb. 1, 1919, in Fife, Wash., to Daitaro Fujita and Hama Maruoka Fujita. She was raised in Fife where she graduated from Fife High School.
She was evacuated with her family to the Minidoka Relocation Center (Hunt Camp) during World War II, and later lived in Chicago prior to returning to Fife.
On Dec. 27, 1947, she married Paul Takeuchi from Donnelly. After marriage, they lived in Idaho where they divided their time between their farm in Donnelly and their winter home in Nampa.
Miyo was a homemaker, and not only took care of her immediate family, but also her mother-in-law and father-in-law, George S. and Iku Takeuchi, with whom they shared their homes.
She also worked many springs at Nishitani Green Houses in Caldwell, and many falls at the Amalgamated Sugar scale house in Nampa after her kids had grown.
Some of her hobbies included knitting, gardening, baking, and sewing. She was widely known for her flower gardens in Donnelly.
Another passion that she had was picking huckleberries where she would pick two to three gallons on a good day.
Miyo is survived by her daughter, Julie Takeuchi; son, George Takeuchi; son, Barry Takeuchi (Beverly); grandchildren, Kimberly Drake (Roman), Alan Takeuchi (Kim), Danny and Abbey Takeuchi; three great-grandchildren, Quinten, Zoey, and Jaedyn Takeuchi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daitaro and Hama Fujita; husband, Paul; sisters, Fusae Otsuka, Yaeko Suyehira, Shiz Yamada, and Mary Miya; and brothers, John Fujita and Sam Fujita.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at A Tender Heart Care (especially Cordelia, Dawn, and Nancy) who provided compassionate home care in her later years; and the staff at The Cottages of Boise, where she happily spent her last month.
